Lingolime

Overview

Lingolime, founded by Yves Yanick Welet, offers online English and French classes. We began by building the brand from the ground up, which later grew into designing a website and planning out an Instagram content strategy. We also set up the practical side of things, like getting contracts and invoicing ready for future students.

Making Operations Smooth for Yves

Problem

Yves was unsure how to define his direction as a business owner. I initiated the project by conducting in-depth interviews to better understand his personal story, business goals, and vision. This process helped clarify his mission, values, and goals, which were critical to building a brand identity that resonated with his audience. I then conducted user research and competitor analysis to gain insights into the market and define a strategy for both the website and Instagram.

Role

I was responsible for developing the brand strategy, designing the website, and creating promotional materials. My roles included researcher, UX designer, brand strategist, project manager, and content creator.

Aproach

I began with a series of in-depth interviews with Yves to uncover key elements of his story, vision, and goals. This provided the foundation for defining his brand’s mission, values, and messaging. I then conducted user research and competitor analysis to inform the design direction. Throughout the process, I incorporated hand-drawn sketches to visualize initial concepts before moving to digital tools. For the website, I used WordPress to develop a functional and user-friendly site. Tools included Figma and Adobe Creative Suite for design, WordPress for web development, and hand-drawing for initial creative exploration.

Solution

For the branding, I crafted a cohesive visual identity, including selecting colors, fonts, and visual elements that aligned with the brand’s mission. I designed multiple logo variations and hand-drawn illustrations to enhance the website’s composition and ensure a unique and approachable feel. For social media, I researched trending topics that were generating high engagement and adapted them to fit Lingolime’s unique brand and story. This helped create relevant content that resonated with potential students. Additionally, I guided Yves, who was new to speaking in front of a camera, by helping him build confidence and align his messaging with the brand’s personality.

Outcome & Results

The project delivered a fully developed brand identity, a functional website, and a comprehensive content strategy for social media. In addition to the website, I created important operational documents for Yves, including editable invoices, a welcome guide for his students with links to essential resources, posters for print, and a customized contract with my advice on key policies to include. All of these materials matched the brand’s voice and visual identity, providing a cohesive and professional presence. This not only streamlined operations but also ensured a consistent and reliable experience for students. The promotional materials and social media strategy helped grow Yves’ student base and set a solid foundation for the business

Challenges & Lessons Learned

Working with a visually impaired client required a more descriptive and thoughtful approach to communication. I adapted my methods to ensure Yves had the tools and support needed to fully engage with the design process. Coaching him on how to present himself on social media was also a rewarding part of the project.
